Porter Creek helped put Russian River Valley on the map and continues to be one of the best producers of the region. George Davis first planted Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in their Westside Road vineyard in 1977, long before it was fashionable. Years later this area became the most prestigious part of the iconic Russian River Valley. George’s son Alex took over the winemaking in 1997, adopting key tenets to farm organ-ically and use a light touch in the cellar. Alex’s approach was influenced by his apprenticeships in Burgundy at Roumier and Michelot, and in the Rhone with Guigal.
