Know Thy Enemy: 10 Vineyard Insect Pests

Have you seen the Third Edition of Grape Pest Management? What, you haven’t? There are a surprising number of insect pests preying on vineyards in California. This book, put together by University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources, lists a whopping 56. Here are ten that I chose because they had the coolest sounding names. Though there’s nothing cool about bugs that threaten agricultural production.

European Earwig

Brown Marmorated Stink Bug

False Cinch Bug

Virginia Creeper Leafhopper

Lead Cable Borer

Little Bear Beetle

Citrus Peelminer

Orange Tortrix

Omnivorous Leafroller

Western Grapeleaf Skeletonizer
